Congratulations to Carlsbad High School student Tina Liu for winning the Science Exhibit Contest at the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Discovery Center.I enjoyed listening to this bright young woman speak about her project and the future of solar power in our country. In recognition of her hard work I presented her with a $500 check from the Blackburn Foundation. This young woman is going places, congratulations. The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Discovery Center is located next to the Agua Hedionda Lagoon and surrounding wetlands, an Ecological Reserve under the care of the California Department of Fish and Game. IN THE CLASSROOM I recently surprised a third grade class from Mission Estancia School while they were on a tour of city hall. The City of Carlsbad offers educational tours to local school children. Information and questions were being answered by volunteer City Stuff Teacher Sherri Howard pictured to the right of third grade teacher Janet Baum.
